The World Drum denied entry to US
Hi Neil
I am Morten Wolf Storeide from Norway, and I am writing to you on behalf of the founders of The World Drum Project. I got your contactinformation from Charlie Fife in Metis Nation, Ontario. I am writing to you regarding a urgent matter that needs attention. I write this first and below you can read more about The World Drum Project.
The World Drum is on a journey which started in Norway Ocotber 2006, and have been around the globe in many countires so far.. The World Drum is sacred, it is on a sacred mission around the globe and it carries sacred objects and bundles. The World Drum was recently hosted by Charlie Fife in Metis Nation, Ontario and was sent further on its journey to Manataka, American Indian Council in Hot Springs US to be hosted there and participate in sacred ceremonies before it will continue its journey to Europe.
The matter is that it have got into trouble, by denial entry to US by the Fish and Wildlife Office, because of some eaglefeather attached to The World Drum. We know there are some restrictions regarding this, but this eaglefeathers were found in nature in Norway and attached to The Drum by the Sami medicineman who built The Drum, and it is sacred as all other items, objects or bundles attached to The World Drum by particiants from all over the globe. Further on the eaglefeather has been properly cleansed. The World Drum is ment to keep up the journey for peace. The Fish and Wildlife Office will now remove these feathers/objects from The World Drum and Forfeited them.
This is not an acceptable option, and is a violation towards a sacred drum, carrying sacred objects on a sacred mission. This is a violation towards a peaceproject, it is a violation against all the people over the globe participating, and it is a violation agianst all that is sacred. It is a violation against the indigenous people of the world as for all other people of the world.
We cannot accept this. And we urge for action from people that this not must happen
and that The World Drum must be able to continue its journey around the globe with all its sacred items, bundles attached
All this trouble has been foresaid by elders so it is no surprise to us that things like this happens. It is part of the drums path. Removing or destroying any object on the drum will be regarded as sacriledge and trying to stop an international peace project. Also im have a feeling that this is not only an attempt to obstruct the project, but also may be funded on rasicst grounds. The Worlddrum Project is crystal clear on this:
We will never accept that any governement destroys or commit sacriledge against the drum. It is a project founded on old traditions and a sacred vision. We will not let this go by in silence.
If it is so, by rules and laws that this is not possible, we demand that all objects, feathers or bundles that are to be removed from The World Drum, will be removed during a sacred ceremony either by Metis Nation and Charlie Fife,
or by Manataka, American Indian Council and Amanda Morningstar Moore and her organization. Otherwise this will be a huge violation towards all that is sacred as to all of the people of the world. Life is sacred, the drumbeat is the heartbeat of Mother Earth and it is sacred.

What is The World Drum Project?
The World Drum Project started in Norway October 2006 after a vision of the Norwegian Shaman Whitecougar. (read more on www.theworlddrum.com ) and was founded by Whitecougar, Birger Mikkelsen, the Sami-medicineman who built The World Drum (the Sami people is the indigeneous people of Norway) and myself Morten Wolf Storeide..
The World Drum Project is ment as a wakeup call to humankind that we all are equal brothers and sisters her on Moder Earth and that we all must find the true love towards Mother Earth and all the sacred that happens in the creation. We must find peace between man, and we must fin peace between man and nature. Life itself is sacred, not only you and I as a human beeing. We must understand that it all is a magnificent interaction and that all in the universe exists relying on the connection to another entity. We are all related.
A long time ago, man lived in harmony and mutual respect with nature and Mother Earth. They did so, because they understood the language of Mother Earth.
But this is a long time ago.
As development progressed, the language of Mother Earth have been forgotten by most of human kind. Though some few still remember it and listen to it and respect it. Specially all of the indigenous people of the world have been able to remember and show respect to this. And they have for decades and centuries tried to tell us that our way of life will bring us to difficult times, as we strive for "wealth" and a higher standard of living,
as we literary rapes our great planet, our home.
The World Drum is a symbol of the circle of life and that we all are connected, and it is to be a wakeup call to humanity. Once again we must listen to Mother Earth, as she speak to us every day. And we do not have to learn the language of Mother Earth. We are all born with it, we all carry it and we all know it, We only have to remember it.
Then we can listen and then we can respect what we all are a part of .
We must unite, no matter race, religion, borders, distance or political thinking.
We must unite in our effort of changing our ways. And it is possible and there is hope.
We have in our power to change our ways, if we only have the will, And the will we all find inside ourselves. These words are easy to say, but surly hard to carry out.
Unite is a word that The World Drum carries, and we see now after this first year and a half of The World Drums journey that it has been filled with power and spirits from all kind of people from many different cultures, different religions, different political thinking, old people, young people, children, homeless, handicapped, woman and men from many nations.
All kind of people all together in the spirit of a common cause.
No matter who you are, what you are or where you are,
we are all a part of the great circle and we all come from the same source.
The time is now or never to make our changes. Let us give our children hope that mankind after all have a place in the great circle on Mother Earth."
"As The World Drum travels, the sound of it will get stronger each day. It is the sound of heartbeat and life itself"
